Hirayu Waterfall

Visited on 18/3 and the area was still snowing heavily. Parked near the ski resort and had to hike around 900m in treacherous snow. The view was nice, rewarding after the short hike. Do follow the footsteps left by previous visitors if you visit the area in heavy snow conditions as you might not know how deep the snow really is.

Worth the trip even though the path to the falls is closed :(

Great waterfall with a nice view. Cannot get too close to the falls, which is the only drawback. A great short hike if you are in Hirayu onsen town. A small farm with sheep on the way there is you are hiking from town.

Nice and relatively easy 30 min hike from Hirayu Onsen Bus Terminal to the Waterfall. Best to go before 10:30 am as the sun behind the Waterfall will be very glaring if you want to have a nice photo shoot of the Waterfall. After 11:30 am should be better or later part of the day.

Visited on 25 February 2023. You can park your car at the parking near the entrance of Hirayu Ski Area. Then take a 750m-walk around 15 mins to the waterfall. The day I went it was snowy and beautiful.
