The Yamaguchi Prefectural Hagi Museum of Art and Urakami Memorial Museum is an art museum that specializes in three genres: ukiyo-e, oriental ceramics, and pottery. The museum opened on October 14, 1996, when Toshiro Urakami, a businessman from Hagi City, donated his collection of ukiyo-e and Oriental ceramics to Yamaguchi Prefecture. In 2010, a new pottery museum was expanded and opened for the purpose of promoting pottery, including Hagiyaki, which has a history of 400 years. It is characterized by holding exhibitions and joint research related to Chinese archeology and cultural relics based on its friendly relationship with Shandong Province, China. Exhibitions like this that focus on archeology and cultural relics over a long period of time are rare, not only in Japan but also in China, and are extremely valuable. It was listed as a two-star tourist facility in the ``Michelin Green Guide,'' a travel guidebook for tourist destinations in Japan published in 2009 (Heisei 21), and was given the second revised edition (2011). ) (published on May 13th) also received two stars. In 2011, we introduced a designated manager system together with the Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum of Art (Yamaguchi City). It is managed by Suntory Publicity Services Ltd. (a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings), which has a proven track record in operating and managing Sinfonia Iwakuni.

I went to see the Finnish glass art exhibition. After seeing the special exhibition, I also saw the permanent exhibition, and the architectural design that makes it easy to move around is amazing. The quality and quantity of the ukiyo-e exhibits were satisfactory.

I was surprised by the beauty I found in this museum. The ceramic statues were impressive and I will not soon forget them. Also the room with the prints of the woodcut were very impressive. I highly recommended this museum.

Was a rainy day in Hagi and went here to escape the water. Surprisingly they had the Hokusai exhibit! Original 36 print of Fuji, including The Great Wave. Which happens to be my favorite print in existence. Staff were very friendly and happy to have foreign travelers. When in Hagi stop by, never know what you will find! (They left me with a parting gift of copies of the print, never have a museum left me with a parting gift!) 5 Stars, come visit.

Nice modern museum with Permanent exhibit for only 300 yen. Modern clay art and block prints. There is a display that shows the stages of inking the prints which was fascinating and also shows the tools used for making them. The combo traveling exhibit costs 1100.
