I visited this museum recently on my way Yudanaka. This Hokusai Museum is beautiful and situated in a quiet town. This is a good attraction to see in you are in the wider area, admire art or are looking for a spot out of the way of other tourists. There's a lot of beautiful drawings, paintings and reproductions by Hokusai and admission is inexpensive. There are lockers for luggage and the staff are friendly and polite (as is typical in Japan)! I'd love to come back someday.

This was a lovely museum!! Very nice building and we definitely learned more about Hokusai than we knew before. Make sure to watch the intro video! The festival floats on display were gorgeous. The area nearby is also very pleasant with restaurants and sweets shops.

Unfortunately the main exhibit hall is closed. Still, went in to see the 2 historical festival stalls. The winter scenery in Obuse is beautiful.

Very well designed museum, although not a lot on display but it was a nice place to visit. The souvenir shop has a surprisingly good selections.

Anybody who knows Hokusai would definitely want to visit this museum given the chance. Would dare say a visit to this place alone justifies coming all the way to Obuse Town even without seeing the rest of the town at all. It would be really nice if you could afford to stay long since looking at the works closely is probably the only way to see just how great they are.
