Quiet and peaceful temple on a hilltop. Beautiful view!Recommended for the sunny day, there is quite a climb up to the temple.

Quiet and peaceful temple, sitting on a hilltop. There is quite a climb up to the temple. From the temple, you can also climb up the stairs further to another shrine, or to begin your ascend to Mt Daisen. Recommended for beginners as it is not difficult. Be sure to make the descend before sunset as it can get dark without many lampposts.

This is the stairway entrance to 大山寺。entrance fee was 300yen per person. There’s a path on the left side of the stairways that leads to another shrine . We didn’t take it as the weather was too cold. Else it would be a lovely 15mins stroll in the woods. This is probably free.

Went in the autumn. Not as crowded as other more popular temples. Reading the other comments, I agree that this temple can be beautiful in all seasons.

One of my favorite places in all of the Chugoku region. Daisen-ji is a peaceful stroll through the mountain town and towards an increasingly serene respite partway up Mt. Daisen. Beautiful in any time of year.
