Tranquil place. Free parking at the top before a short final climb up to the temple. Road up is narrow so please be careful. Oversee lake biwa and a "can visit" instead of "must visit" in my own opinion.

Great peaceful place to visit. 808 steps scared me a bit so I took the long forest trail to the temple. there was freat view of Biwa lake from the temple. not crowded even in Golden week.

Impressive temple up in the hills with an equally impressive stairway. There is a free parking area located a ways downhill. Be aware that this staircase from the parking area to the temple grounds is difficult if not very healthy. Call ahead about what to do for accommodating those in wheelchairs. There is a nice view of the lake and the fall foliage is nice to look at in the fall. Recommended for a small visit on the weekend.

Beautiful temple with great view over lake Biwa. Note that you must walk all the stairs from the foot of the hill (where the bus stop is) to get long life. If you only walk the last few steps from the parking lot your life will be short for sure. :P
