Must visit if you ever come to Uji. And if possible, come during autumn! Very lovely place that is the same temple shown on the 10 yen coin. Very nice place to take a walk. Different exits lead to different area and be careful not to go out the wrong way as re-entry not permitted and it’s a long walk to get to the other exit. It’s a big temple!

The ten cent temple. Very serene area with a street selling Uji matcha prior to reaching it. The tour took about a hour, if you take time to read the historical notes.

This temple was a truly wonderful discovery during our visit to Uji. While we initially came to Uji for the famous matcha, this temple ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It offered a magical, peaceful, and calming atmosphere. The expansive garden was brimming with life, boasting a variety of trees and bushes. The temple itself, surrounded by water, was truly breathtaking. You can even get a traditional Gochin here!

Cash only (as are most things in Uji). The museum is absolutely worth it in my opinion. If you already had your fill of temples and shrines, the museum itself has beautiful works that are worth seeing by themself. There were ramps and an elevator, so people with mobility devices should be able to enjoy the museum, too.

The temple is incredible, with a beautiful garden and a pretty extensive museum. I recommend going around the time it opens, it gives you space to take it all in. Also, there is no line for the goshuin in the morning. The museum has a great collection that showcases some original items belonging to different parts of the temple and is a nice addition to the whole experience.
