A very rare Japanese garden surrounded on all sides by the sea, Bandoko Garden also offers an amazing view of a spacious and vibrant lawn field against the blue ocean and skies.

There's an entrance fee ¥600 for adults and ¥500 for parking if you drive. It's a well manicured garden with scenic ocean views and elaborate cliff rocks cut by centuries of erosion. Super breezy here with benches to rest and have a snack too. It's not the easiest to get to, and although I enjoyed my visit, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here, unless you've got some free time on hand in Wakayama. There's a vending machine and basic restroom onsite so that's taken care of.

One of the best places to watch a sunset in Wakayama. The garden is a perfect place to get plenty of cute photos. Make sure you bring cash because there is no convenience store nearby

Wonderful and beautiful little Japanese gardens, with spectacular 270 degree views of the surrounding coast. Well maintained and delicately curated gardens. Friendly English speaking staff member at the ticket booth. ¥600 for adults. A bit far to get to by foot, but worth it.

I believe this is a private garden. The location is kind of hard to get to without a car (took the bus + 20 min walk), but definitely worth it. Located right at the end of a cliff, the garden is a pine lover's paradise. So many beautifully manicured pines against the blue skies and cliffs. Cannot imagine the amount of work that goes into maintaining these pines in various shapes. Best time is early morning or sunset. Fees are collected.
